Firm History
Taylor, Day, Currie, Boyd & Johnson History
Taylor, Day, Currie, Boyd & Johnson was founded in 1981. John Taylor, Steve Day and Vince Rio left Mathews, Osborne, Ehrlich, McNatt, Gobelman & Cobb, to start the firm. Each of the original partners had a slightly different focus in his practice, and that diversity has continued to the present. We have always been a litigation-only group. We currently have 17 attorneys.
We have been active participants in Bar activities. Steve Day served as President of the Florida Bar Foundation from 1996 to 1997. Others have served as members of the Board of Governors of the Jacksonville Bar or the Young Lawyers Section of that Bar. We are members of many legal organizations, including our state and local Bars, DRI, The Florida Defense Lawyers Association, ABOTA, and the International Association of Defense Counsel.
Brian Currie joined our firm in 1988, and he represents a number of medical malpractice carriers and self-insured entities. We continue to represent statewide and national corporations. We have represented corporate defendants in class actions in federal courts throughout the state of Florida. Further, we have represented defendants in asbestos litigation and, in the 1980s, began representing parties in securities/broker-dealer litigation and later in arbitration.
We now enjoy an extensive insurance practice, with a specialty in defense of bad faith claims. We continue to represent malpractice carriers and health care providers in defense of professional negligence claims. We also practice commercial, construction, transportation and real property litigation. Reed Grimm joined our firm in 1999 after working as an Assistant State Attorney and with a prominent Jacksonville civil litigation law firm, and he is responsible for our construction, real property and title insurance litigation, as well as commercial and transportation law. Christopher ("Bo") Boyd and Bonnie Murdoch are responsible for our workers' compensation and maritime practice, and we represent a number of self-insured organizations in those fields. From our office in Fernandina Beach, Florida, we offer a generalized litigation practice to individuals and businesses in the Nassau County area.
Throughout its history, Taylor, Day, Currie, Boyd & Johnson has maintained the finest and most ethical client representation. We believe that, in addition to competent representation, clients deserve responsiveness and attention. Indeed, they should demand it. We stand ready to provide that service as we have done for over 25 years.
